Despite a directive from the UAE Ministry of Enviornment and huge international public pressure, the Atlantis Hotel in Dubai have still not released the captive Whale sharks kept in the hotel's aquarium. By stubbornly ignoring both the legal directive and public opinion the hotel are demonstrating that it must be so profitable keeping the shark that they can afford to break the law and incur public wrath.
The only way for the UAE Ministry of Environment to avoid looking totally impotent would be for them to seek a closure of the hotel until their directive is complied with.
